Centerville - Washington Township Fight Over Merger
The City of Centerville and Washington Township commissioned a study by the University of Toledo to evaluate the impact of a potential merger of the two jurisdictions.
A review of the public record reveals the Washington Township Trustees never intended to seriously consider a merger with the City of Centerville.
It is a sad commentary when locally elected officials, from two affluent and conservative communities, cannot reach an agreement to move forward with a merger that would obviously have numerous long-term positive impacts for the citizens of both communities.
If there was ever a merger that should happen this is one.

Streetcars could revitalize city, proponents say
The co-chair of a task force seeking to establish a streetcar loop between downtown Dayton and the University of Dayton area remains optimistic despite a consultant’s study that set a high price tag for the project.
Last year, Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority officials estimated the 4-mile loop could be built for about $40 million and would cost about $700,000 a year to run.
Consultant Parsons Brinckerhoff looked at other streetcar systems and estimated the system would cost $125 million to build and $2 million a year to operate.
